West Covina, Los Angeles County
West Covina incorporated in 1923, largely so that neighboring Covina could not build a sewage farm on its land. It stayed a quiet district of walnut and orange groves until the 1950s, when new subdivisions made it one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Today it is a commercial center of the eastern San Gabriel Valley, along Interstate 10.
